Whether you're furnishing a new home, updating the family cottage or finally replacing that dining table you've had for years, finding the right pieces can make a big difference in how a space looks and feels.
Here in Minden, we're fortunate to have a local business that has been helping homeowners do just that for decades.
Located on Bobcaygeon Road, Riverview Furniture & Flooring has been part of the community since 1979, offering Canadian-made furniture, custom woodworking, flooring and other home essentials.
It's the kind of business that reminds us we don't always have to travel far to find quality products and knowledgeable service.
A Longstanding Part of the Minden Community
Riverview has been serving Minden and the surrounding Haliburton Highlands for more than 45 years.
Over that time, the business has grown into a destination for people furnishing everything from year-round family homes to seasonal waterfront cottages.
One of Riverview's specialties is Canadian-made wood furniture, including pieces handcrafted in its own workshop.
There's something appealing about furniture that's designed to last, particularly when it's made with the needs of local homeowners and cottagers in mind.
Whether you're looking for a traditional dining table, a rustic bedroom set or something more contemporary, having the option to choose locally made furniture adds another dimension to the shopping experience.
Furniture Made for Your Space
Every home is a little different, and finding furniture that fits isn't always as simple as choosing something from a showroom floor.
Riverview offers custom wood furniture, giving customers the opportunity to explore different sizes, finishes and designs.
This can be especially helpful in cottages and older homes, where unusual room dimensions or unique layouts sometimes make standard furniture difficult to accommodate.
The store carries furniture for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms, along with upholstered pieces, mattresses and cedar furniture.
From practical bunk beds for a family cottage to a dining table large enough for holiday gatherings, there are options for a wide range of spaces and lifestyles.
More Than Furniture
While furniture is a major part of the business, Riverview also offers flooring, window coverings and appliances.
Its flooring selection includes hardwood, engineered hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl plank, tile and carpet.
For homeowners planning a renovation, the team can help explore different materials and finishes, with flooring installation and shop-at-home services also available.
Having access to these products and services locally can make home improvement projects more convenient, whether you're updating a single room or making changes throughout the house.
And for cottage owners who may not live in the area full-time, being able to work with a local business familiar with homes and cottages in the Haliburton Highlands can be particularly helpful.
The Value of Shopping Close to Home
One of the things I appreciate about our communities is the variety of independent businesses that have built lasting relationships with local residents.
Stores like Riverview are an important part of that.
They offer an alternative to larger retailers, with opportunities to ask questions, explore custom options and receive guidance from people familiar with the products they sell.
Supporting local businesses also helps maintain the shops and services that make living in smaller communities more convenient.
Whether you're settling into a new property or simply making a few updates to a space you've enjoyed for years, it's worth seeing what's available right here in Haliburton County.
